Merrill,
I have a side question for you: Can you tell me who makes the spoon in your delicious mousse photo? It's beautiful.
Thanks!

added about 1 year agoIt's actually Amanda's spoon -- I'll ask her!

So sad. But thanks for checking into it!
My husband is the James Bond type for drinks, we'll make vodka martinis, love the recipe and the cook name too! I will eat most of the steak too : ), and my guy will love the mashed potatoes, spinach gratin and of course the chocolate!
Happy Valentines Day everyone!
There is only one word that describes this Valentine Menu......FOREPLAY
My thoughts exactly, Guy....
I think I'm in love with this menu! Starting off with the wicked witch martini is certainly not a bad way to go either.
Like LND, I've made almost all of these recipes - some more than once - and I'm DROOLING and suddenly wishing for a carnivorous husband. I'm counting on this - he'll be so happy with Liz' spinach gratin, he won't notice that I've eaten the entire rib-eye.
I only want to do dinner at home for days like Valentine's and Mother's Day. Imho it's so much more personal, and the restaurants never seem to put their best feet forward when they're beseiged. I also suggest that the roses are more fun when he can get 2 dozen for less than the price of 1 dozen on V-Day.
That menu looks delightful. ;)
That chocolate mousse looks ridiculous! I think I'd call the recipe Heaven in a Bowl.
Great menu - especially that chocolate mousse. We love making a special Valentine dinner at home. With children, Valentines Day becomes more of a family celebration anyway....the last time we went out alone, we paid a fortune at one of the best restaurants in town only to be rushed through the meal so that the next seating could come in. It was no fun.
I can't agree more with using the money you would have spent going out to have a nice meal at home. I never have understood what is romantic about eating out on Valentine's Day, except the fact that someone else washes the dishes!
Ribeye (and all else) looks amazing -- I can't wait to stay home Monday night!!!
I'm pretty sure I'm a lush. It's only 10:42 and you had me at martini.

What a great menu! But honestly, I'd be perfectly happy with just the Chocolate Mousse. ;)

Having made most of these recipes at least once, I wholeheartedly agree! Save the money you would have spent at a restaurant and buy a really nice bottle of wine instead :)
This is a gorgeous menu!
