Cooking for my friends and family is my favourite thing in the world to do.
What do you cook when home alone?
Meats from childhood (husband is vegetarian so it's a fleisch-fest when he's away), breaded pork chops, bouletten and shustertunkel (Berlinish for pork patties with a brown roux gravy), chicken fried steak, duck legs, liverwurst on rye with slices of dill pickle on top. That kind of thing.
Your most treasured kitchen possession:
Microplane grater. Oh, AND my Kitchenaid stand mixer with the dough hook. And my dough scraper. And collection of glass mixing bowls from the 40s. My mom's old wooden rolling pin, too. And, of course, our Le Creuset pots, first thing my husband and I bought together.
