I can't remember a time when I didn't cook, my fondest memories are of standing on a folding chair at a long table on my nana's porch in an assembly line of damas (ladies) from her church making tamales by the hundreds of dozens. I also have a lot of strange food memories, like the time in 8th grade when I did a two week exchange program in Mexico and at the farewell feast there was a whole roast goat, an amazing foreign site; and yes it was pretty tasty, if a little scary to try. Or in high school, when I had a huge aversion to breakfast food and spent a whole year eating soup and sandwiches for breakfast at six o'clock in the morning. Now I love to eat just about everything at any time of day and finding new, exciting inspiration is a way of food life.
