ABOUT THIS COOK:

I'm a mother of 3 and a former architect who obsessively searches for creative dinner ideas. I can't stand a picky kid and I don't like to do anything in a rote manner. If I have to cook dinner every night, it might as well be fun and delicious.

  • What is the strangest food you have ever eaten?
A large platter piled with roast tiny songbirds - with their heads and feet on, in the southwestern part of France when I was 16

  • What do you cook when home alone?
I am never home alone but if I were I would brown a slice of naturally leavened bread in butter and olive oil and put thinly sliced prosciutto, roast asparagus and a gently poached egg on top. I might dab a little aioli on each bite.

  • Your most treasured kitchen possession:
Sharp knife, microplane grater, mortar and pestle

  • The ideal number of guests for a dinner party is:
6 yields the best conversation. Although I have no problem cooking for 20.
