I'm an American relocated to the Netherlands for my husband's work. When we were dating I constantly impressed upon him that I had no intentions of becoming domestic. This was before I discovered: I love cooking! I love cooking a meal because it is a a creative act all contained in one episode. Inspiration, labor, creation, enjoyment. I also write, edit, and engage in other creative pursuits, and none of them come to fruition from an afternoon to an evening.
What do you cook when home alone?
Tofu, because my husband doesn't like it, so rarely cooked when we're together. And the last time he traveled I made beer-battered mashed potatoes and ate them alone....
