Serves 3

  1. Heat oil in pan and add the mustard seeds when mustard seeds splutter add the onion green chili and curry leaves. fry for few minute then add the carrot stair for few minute

  2. Now add the semolina into the carrot mix and fry for few minute

  3. Take all from the pan and keep aside.

  4. Into the same hot pan add 2 cups of water . When water boils and bubbles add the semolina carrot and mix well.

  5. Serve hot with lime pickle , sugar or honey.

Just out of curiosity, pauljoseph, could you help me with your title. Carrot is obvious. Umpa is the semolina, right? What does rava mean?

boulangere Rava is the semolina.Umpa is the name of the dish.Upma can also made with vermicelli

upma can also made with Aval (flattened rice flake)Pasta,Bread crumbs etc etc....

Oh, I intend to. I'd been mulling over what to serve under black beans, other than rice, for a lunch this Tuesday. This is exactly what I intend to use. I'm not the photographer you are, but if I can get a decent photo, I'll post it.

This looks delicious. I usually have a semolina soup as a breakfast with a drizzle of olive oil. I really like the way this recipe is molded as a cup shape.
