Makes 1 bottle of wine

  1. Pour wine into sauce pan, on low to medium heat, do not bring to boil.

  2. Stir in sugar and whisk lightly until sugar is dissolved.

  3. Add spices and orange peel and bring almost to a boil.

  4. Pull off heat and let cool overnight. Best results if you let it sit for 3 days.

  5. Remove spices, and if desired, add vodka or dark rum to taste.

  6. Reheat (do not boil!) and serve in cups with raisins and almonds.
