Add milk and water to steel cut oats in pot. Let cook until most oats absord the liquid (about 7-10 min). Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well. Be as generous as you want with the add-ins. Remember all the addition are options. This is one loaded batch of steel cut oats! Enjoy

anniefeldman, I sent you a message but haven't received a response, so I'm posting here as well. I hope to test this within the next 24 hours, but am concerned that there may be an error in the amount of liquid in the recipe. For regular steel cut oats, which I eat just about every day, the ratio is typically four parts water to one part oats. Quick steel cut oats require 3:1. One to one, as stated here, would produce a very hard, crunchy oat. Is that what is intended? Also, do you use regular steel cut oats or quick cooking? From the photo, which shows oats that seem to be fairly well hydrated, I can only conclude that you used more than one cup of liquid for the one cup of oats. Thank you. ;o)
