Serves 2-4

  1. In a large bowl, whisk the buttermilk, eggs, cinnamon, vanilla, and salt until well combined.

  2. Working in 2 or 3 batches, soak the slices of baguette in the custard mixture for a several minutes on each side, until the bread is well saturated.

  3. Heat a pan or griddle. Over medium heat, melt 2 teaspoons of butter.

  4. Cook a few slices of bread at a time, taking care not to crowd the pan. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until toast gets a nice, golden brown.

  5. Serve immediately with peanut butter maple syrup, below.

  1. Put all the ingredients in a small saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until peanut butter and butter are melted. Alternately, microwave all the ingredients in a microwave-safe bowl for 20 seconds at time, stirring between intervals. Serve warm.

I'm a big fan of almond butter and maple syrup; can't believe I never thought of using peanut butter. I want to march in the kitchen and make this right now. Yum!

Buttermilk French toast . . . yum! Peanut butter and maple syrup . . . . double yum! Love this one. Will definitely give it a go when both boys are home for the summer. ;o)

Oh my gosh, my dad used to make peanut butter maple syrup! We'd eat it with crepes. Love it!
