1 tablespoon vanilla Ask a question about this ingredient
juice and zest from one blood orange Ask a question about this ingredient
8 large mint leaves - minced Ask a question about this ingredient
4 large eggs Ask a question about this ingredient
1 1/2 cup all purpose flour Ask a question about this ingredient
Preheat your oven to 350. Melt the butter and chocolate together - I did this in a glass bowl in the microwave on half heat, but you could use a double boiler too.
Ask a question about this stepWhisk the sugar, orange juice and zest, and vanilla into the chocolate until it is very smooth and shiny.
Ask a question about this stepNow it should be cool enough to whisk in the eggs without scrambling them - do that. Then the mint.
Ask a question about this stepStir in the flour until the batter is well mixed but don't get carried away and beat it to death.
Ask a question about this stepBreak the feta into baby pea sized pieces and fold them into the batter.
Ask a question about this stepSpray your pan with baking no-stick, or butter and flour it. Your choice. No-stick is easier. You can use a 9x13, or of you like EDGES like we do, use the baker's edge ... it rocks - http://www.bakersedge.com/
Ask a question about this stepBake at 350 for 40-45 minutes - depending on your pan and your oven. A toothpick should come out clean. Let them cool then cut into smaller pieces than you think you need because they are SERIOUSLY rich!!!
Ask a question about this stepI have issues with orange and chocolate as a combination...but these sound ridiculously amazing. Mad props for such an original idea!
Thanks ICP! It's really a whisper of orange ... a hint of mint ... a subtle bite of feta ... and a big dark chocolate whallop upside the head.
Thanks you guys for all of the nice comments! If you prefer a slightly cakier brownie you could add a bit more flour too ...
Wow! These look awesome! I think this gets bumped up to the top of the dessert category.
Yum! Great idea, I make brownies with slices of cream cheese in the batter, these sound amazing!
These look wonderful!!
Woah!! Awesome!! Really really clever aargersi!!!
Why thank you! Did I mention they are rich? :-) (drinking ginger tea to balance) - and by the way my feta hating husband LOVES these!!
