Serves 12

  1. Mix all of the ingredients together and bake in a greased/floured oblong cake pan at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes.

  1. Cook butter, light brown sugar and milk for 5 minutes over medium heat, stirring frequently (almost constantly). Cool for 10 minutes.

  2. Add confectioners sugar and vanilla. Stir and ice cake immediately.

There's rarely a cake in my house that doesn't come with vanilla ice cream!

Yum! I completely agree, the simpler the better when it comes to a great chocolate cake. I love the addition of hot caramel icing - that is the perfect topping for a cake!!
