Author Notes

I am not a big fan of beer, but if it's blended into a milkshake, I'm an instant convert. This would be fantastic with homemade coffee ice cream, but in a pinch you can use any premium brand (such as Haagen Dazs "Five"). —WinnieAb

I grew up in a restaurant family (my parents owned the now closed Quilted Giraffe in NYC) and I've always loved to cook. My interest in the connection between food and health led me to pursue a graduate degree in naturopathic medicine. I don't practice medicine anymore; I have a blog called Healthy Green Kitchen that I started in May of 2009 and I wrote a book called One Simple Change that will be published in January, 2014. I live in upstate New York with my family and many pets.

I made this and it was way to liquid-y. Next time I'll half the milk, if not just put 1/3 in. It tastes good though!

Sounds tasty, but I don't think I would classify it as a "cocktail". Aside from being a shake, it's lacking a liquor (key to the whole cocktail idea).

you are right...not technically a cocktail!

A beer milkshake is something that I have never, ever thought of, but now it looks so appealing I can't wait to try it!

I was just saying to my husband that I'd love to make a beer milkshake. Had heard about it at tailgating. I was going to use vanilla ice cream, but coffee sounds much better!
