8 slices thick white (French toast) bread Ask a question about this ingredient
Mix together the first 4 ingredients. In a separate bowl, whisk together butter, egg, and milk. Add dry ingredients to wet, and stir until flour is dampened. Set aside.
Ask a question about this stepFor each sandwich, spread one slice bread with mustard, and layer with (in following order) 2 slices gruyere, 2 slices ham, sprinkle parmesan, 2 slices turkey, ground pepper, 2 slices gouda, other piece of bread. Repeat for all 4 sandwiches.

Ask a question about this stepPour half of batter in shallow dish, and for each sandwich, dip in batter in shallow dish, and pour batter over top to coat. Grill each sandwich- about 2-3 minutes on each side until batter is golden brown and cheese is melted.
