I haven't made any of her recipes, but Lydia Bastianich seems to have a sprinkling of good looking Italian dessert recipes in her books, some of which are more traditional, and others which are more American/Italian fusion. There's a section on her site with some as well if you want to give some a try.
i love michelle scicolone's la dolce vita cookbook!

I agree! I make this every year around the holidays. I have not made the sauce yet. Bread pudding is great on it's own.

I usually trust Amazon's ratings overall, and a couple books there have very good ratings, including this one with desserts from Babbo (Mario Batali's restaurant in Manhattan). http://www.amazon.com/Dolce-Italiano-Desserts-Babbo-Kitchen/dp/0393061000/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1328744535&sr=1-2
