VP Technology
We're looking for a VP Technology to join our executive team. Our site and company is located in NYC.
Our company is growing fast, and we have a ton of creative and challenging work ahead, particularly in
improving the social fabric of the site and in our real-time food q&a platform. We're looking for someone
with great product vision -- someone who is still coding, who embraces social technologies, and who can
help us shape our future and build out our team.
Our Tech Stack:
- Ruby on Rails
- Prototype + JQuery
- Git
- Capistrano
- MySQL
- Amazon EC2 + S3
- Google Analytics
- iOS apps for the iPad and iPhone
Responsibilities:
- Work with the business and tech to design effective product solutions
- Collaborate with the founders on the strategic direction of the company
- Code in Ruby, Javascript, or a few MySQL queries
- Help recruit, mentor and train other developers
- Obsessively improve the tech stack
- Usability/UX Testing is a plus
Requirements:
- Computer Science degree or equivalent
- Extensive experience working in Software development
- Product and design savvy
- Excellent communication skills
- Facebook and Twitter API knowledge is mandatory
- Plus - Startup and management experience
- Plus - SEO knowledge
- Plus - iOS development
Front End Engineer
Requirements:
- Must be able to hand code HTML5 and CSS3 web pages from wireframes/photoshop designs
- You are a cross browser compatibility expert (but curse IE as much as we do)
- Experience with JQuery (and understanding the underlying javascript is a huge plus!)
- Experience with Responsive Design
- Experience with SEO
- Experience with page performance
- Experience with version control systems
- Experience working with a server side team (Ruby, Python, Java, PHP, etc)
- You have an eye for great user interfaces and are comfortable often making design decisions on your own
- Huge Plus - Experience with a UNIX command line environment
- Huge Plus - You are comfortable writing and running simple SQL queries
- Huge Plus - Experience with SASS or LESS
