I work in databases but my heart is in the kitchen (or on any path that leads to the kitchen - say the garden, or market, or a cookbook). Food52 has expanded my horizons by leaps and bounds, I have tried new foods and techniques more times than I can count over the last couple of years. I have conquered fear of pie crust, baked cakes and cookies, tried celery root (it's ugly, but delicious!) and amaranth (small mysterious grain), taken up a somewhat obsessive canning habit ... the list goes on. I should mention that I have had to add a few extra miles in running shoes each week to compensate - balance in everything, right?

What is the strangest food you have ever eaten?
I am starting to think that nothing is really all THAT strange, I mean unless you are eating moon rocks or something. I will admit to liking ketchup on my eggs.

What do you cook when home alone?
It so depends on my mood and the time of year! But it's likely to involve eggplant, pasta or tofu, tomatoes, and wine. In a glass next to the plate.

Very fond of my automatic floor cleaner - aka Ginger Snap the JRT. And my onion goggles (used almost daily!) And of course not a POSSESSION, but my co-chef, sous chef, taster, food stylist and IDEA MAN - Mr L
