ABOUT THIS COOK:

I am a Personal Chef, originally from Canada, currently preparing custom menus of meals in the home kitchens of residents of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. My experience in accommodating dietary restrictions and my passion for fresh and healthy offers local foodies a new option for daily meals and entertaining. On my own time, it's all Mexican food for me...new ingredients, new processes, the rich complexity of flavours and the culture of food here in Mexico - I am in LOVE! The street food and market stalls have presented me the best taste experiences of my life.

  • What is the strangest food you have ever eaten?
Chapulines (grasshoppers) and huitlacoche (corn smut)

  • What do you cook when home alone?
something with an egg on top: either fried egg on an Asian style veg and rice with sriracha, or chilaquiles, or pasta, garlic parsley and a poached egg

  • Your most treasured kitchen possession:
cast iron skillet bought at a flea market by an ex-boyfriend and given to me when he broke up with me– he said I could hit him with it! That was 20+ years ago... he'd found it at a flea market and cleaned and seasoned it for me and it's been my best kitchen friend since. I am also still friends with that ex- he also gave me a wonderful mortar and pestle.

  • The ideal number of guests for a dinner party is:
    8
