Linguini with Breadcrumbs and Kale by Hotplate Gourmet
Hotplate Gourmet made her ambitions very clear -- this linguini dish is to be a respectable weeknight dinner, something easy but good. Well, it's more than that -- we think it's terrific. Like an old Italian nonna, Hotplate Gourmet has you use the pasta water to help cook the kale and has you add breadcrumbs to the kale to fortify the pasta. You saute the breadcrumbs in oil, then add garlic and kale, and not too much of either. The garlic gently scents the kale and the greens add substance and sweetness, without making you feeling like you're eating kale for the sake of eating kale! You pull the dish together with some fresh olive oil and grated parmesan and you have a wonderful fall dinner. Next time we make this, we'll set aside the breadcrumbs after they've been toasted and add them back to the pan once the kale has been cooked. Their crunch is so great, you don't want to risk having them get soggy! - A&M

I had to vote for Devils on Hatchback because I find the smell of roasted (or grilled) chilies intoxicating, and I am a devout bacon lover. I cannot wait to try these nibbles! I'll have to turn the movie up really loud on account of the moaning I'll be doing. Fo sho.
I have been staring meditatively at both these slide shows, hoping for a decision. Did you have to make it so difficult, sisters? Maybe we could amalgamate: wrap a goat-cheese-stuffed olive in a roasted Hatch, roll it in bacon, bread it with panko and deep-fry.
haha! that's so funny- we were talking yesterday about combining them into one ultra-snack, and decided it must be done!

Both of these look so amazing I can't decide! And sisters!? Can we just call it a tie this week!?
oh boy! that would be grand :) thanks, friend!
Everytime I'm close to hitting the 'vote' button, I think of how delicious the other looks! This might have to be a make-then-vote decision!
These are 2 great recipes. I want you BOTH to win!
thanks, mrslarkin!
Yahoo! Thanks A & M! As I write this I am cleverly planning all the ways that I can sabotage myself so that the sister of my life can WIN!!!! I'll get back to you, but at the moment I am thinking that, for starters, I will reveal my true identity: not helenthenanny, but none other than.... GEORGE W. BUSH. And I'll talk some smack, of course, about shortening. Thanks again!
OK I just laughed so hard tea about came out my nose. Nooooo NOT the Shrub talking about SHORTENING! Hahahahahaha!!
YES! I am sitting on my front porch of my giant ranch mansion laughing it up! And, I'm running the air conditioning with all the windows open, just for fun! And I just finished the last Lone Star in this six pack and I am not going to cut the plastic ties so that I may kill a fish or two! AND I just crank called your house! AND I BATHE IN SHORTENING! Buahhahahaha!
haha! thanks, dubya ;) but honestly, i'm thrilled my little olives get to share the spotlight with your unbelievably delicious hatchbacks- i'd be awfully proud to come in second to such a lovely little treat!
OK MAYBE for those of us in the same CITY the sisters should host a cookoff? (she says ever so self-servingly - ha ha!!!)
