Water For Meat, Or Lack Thereof

Climate change. Rising food prices. Obesity. World hunger. There's a lot of doom and gloom in our world these days, and Mother Jones' Tom Philpott surely doesn't sugarcoat it when adding another dimension: how droughts could render our current meat consumption impossible by the year 2050.

We know by now that industrial agriculture is detrimental to our environment, and it's a cause for concern when other countries such as China and India are rushing to industrialize. But what we need to remember is that there are small movements that are trying to bring us back to sustainable agriculture. Philpott acknowledges those working against government policies that encourage the growth of powerful and oppressive meat industries.
