Whistle While You Work With FoodBeats: Recipe-Inspired Playlists

Remember when we asked you what you listen to while you cook? Well, whatever your answer happened to be, newly launched web app FoodBeats is on a mission to mix it up. The nifty site utilizies Last.fm's scrobbling technology to whip up personalized playlists inspired by whatever you're whipping up in the kitchen — it even takes into account how long your preptime will be. Twenty five minutes to knead that bread dough? You'll get just as many minutes of brand new music to jam to.

We love this for a few reasons. Not only will it take the guesswork out of new music discovery, it basically guarantees we'll never again get our stereo covered in buttermilk curry when we rush over to switch radio stations mid-meal-making. (True story, FM/AM was never the same again.)

Shop the Story

Unfortunately, it's only available in Ireland and the U.K. at the moment, but we're crossing our fingers it'll be arriving stateside soon.

Cassie loves to cook, eat, and then write about it. She can't resist anything with sweet potatoes, but if she had to pick one food for the rest of her life it might be avocado. (She changes her mind a lot.) She also believes that anything will taste better on a tortilla, and that tacos are the premier food of summertime. You can catch her reading Calvin & Hobbes on the stoop of her apartment, or on the roof in her garden. Say hello!
