Our ever-cheerful community has come up with the brilliant idea of a Food52 Secret Santa -- that's right, a cross-country gift exchange, Food52-user to Food52-user.

Can you use the photos we posted on the Secret Santa hotline posting? Some of us took photos and listed what we received.

Calling all participants of the Secret Swap: We here at Food52 would love to see photos of your goodies! Send in your pictures to [email protected] by this Sunday, 1/1 with the subject line "Secret Swap" -- and let us know what the items are and who sent them. Thanks a bunch!

Also, Enbe (the secret swap organizer) asked us to send the photos to her, as she was planning on combining them into a post. Can you please coordinate with her to get copies of the photos? I didn't keep copies on my computer, after sending mine to her.

I just received my box (and took a photo to send to enbe!) My Secret Santa is a mystery - I can gather her first name and where she's from, but thats it! I got homemade strawberry-rhubarb jam, homemade spicy catsup, and homemade 'moose piss' aka meyer limoncello! Awesome! Thank you, Secret Santa!!!

I received the most delightful box of goodies from Summer of Eggplant! Southern comfort in a box: candied figs, pound cake, smoked trout pate and stone ground grits, with a custom spice blend for shrimp and instructions on how to make shrimp and grits. Each with a lovely story--my favorite was about Uncle Jimmy and his fig tree. So thoughtful and fun :)

I just put the box in the mail for my recipient today and only hope that it generates even a fraction of the delight that my Secret Santa achieved. You set the bar high, Summer of Eggplant!

Thanks for organizing, enbe. What a fun way to get into the holiday spirit.

@ Kitchen Butterfly: I added an addendum for international participants if you are still interested!
@ Lazychef: see my failed attempts at responding to your question below. Still getting used to this new format!

I've tried sending jams and cookies internationally and have had terrible luck - they've never reached their intended destination. (Mexico, France) No problem with the UK.

enbe November 13, 2011
I had plenty of cookies shipped to me in the UK while I lived there and they got there fine (stale, but fine). I haven't had any experience outside of the UK/US. I think it'd be appropriate to be somewhat skeptical, unfortunately.

I've received from Germany (late but received) would love an international Secret Santa if you want someone to try it out.

enbe November 9, 2011
Oops that was supposed to be a reply to you, see my comment above!

enbe November 9, 2011
I've had a few people add requests about early shipments on the form (in the address or dietary needs section) and I don't think it will be a problem for most gifters since this information will be sent along to them shortly after November 25th. Just add a "pretty please" ;)

This is such a great idea. I'm totally in. Would it be possible to request a slightly adjusted send date? I'll be out of town at the beginning of December and hate to think of a box of deliciousness languishing on my doorstep...

(sorry if this is a duplicate post, just got the old error message and wanted to be sure I posted!)

A real fantastic idea. If I lived in the States (and could take part), I would look forward to jams and cookies....the most! Sigh. Great idea
