There are thousands of cooking blogs -- each week, we bring you highlights from the best. This week, food52 succumbs to Anglomania.

When we rounded up our favorite British bites for our toast to the royal nuptials, we were reminded of how much we adored England's answer to the granola bar: Flapjacks. In our reverie, we also realized that Londonfoodieny, the cook who first introduced this chewy treat to food52, is like Nigella for the new generation at the stove -- seriously, she even looks like the domestic goddess (see?). 

Like other young British foodies, this half-Brit/half-Yank, Anna Helm-Baxter, is bending and breaking culinary traditions on her blog London Foodie in NY: she lists eating Marmite with peanut butter as one of the things she loves (not surprising, given that she has one toe on either side of the pond). "Some of my greatest successes were the result of what I thought might be a failure," she writes about herself.

Anna's recipe box is a brilliantly full of British (and American) baking recipes, many of which are accompanied by charming videos (we're loving her no knead Multi-Grain Bread, which she claims she tosses together and goes back to bed while it bakes.) And finally someone has taken the time to clear up the blasted ambiguity between British and American food terminology -- golden raisins are, in fact, sultanas. Jacket potatoes? Yep ... just baked.

Since she now has us obsessed with flapjacks, her Double Chocolate version (pictured above, right) are next up on our list of homemade afternoon treats. Between her Millionaire's Shortbread (in a post about "why January isn't all that bad" ) and the Fish pie with a mixed-veg mash, we are absolutely reminded that the Brits can cook.

And now, apparently, they have the wine to go with it.
