San Francisco-based Sodium Girl (the one in the Supergirl getup above) understands better than most what it means to "eat to live." After a life-threatening lupus diagnosis in January 2004, Sodium Girl took her health into her own hands, and by regulating the sodium in her diet, managed to reduce her dependence on medications and lead a healthier, happier life -- without losing out on good food. She's making it easier for us to live healthier and happier, too, with flavor-packed recipes like Baked Eggs over Roasted Tomatoes and Citrus Herb Couscous, Oyster Po' Boy Pops, Orange Pickled Fennel (pictured above), and Twice Cooked Sardines and Green Grape Gremolata (for when that guest "who opts for the chicken feet, the tuna heart, or the creamed corn ice cream" comes over and "hummus and crudités are just not going to do," she says).
Interested in getting in on all the sodium-free action? Join Sodium Girl in her Love Your Heart Recipe Rally this Friday, February 18, 2011, which she's hosting in honor of Valentine's Day and National Heart Health Month. Of course, don't forget to share those heart-healthy recipes here on food52!

Another variation on a favorite phrase: "Eating well is the best revenge!" Love seeing what you're doing.
So great to meet you here in the spotlight, Sodium Girl! I have to say, between lastnightsdinner's winning seafood pasta and your Twice Cooked Sardines and Green Grape Gremolata, I may just have to pick up a tin and give them both a whirl. Cheers!
And keep my eye out for fresh ones too...
Gingerroot - can't wait to see what sardine surprises you come up with. I'm working on a few new recipes so I'll let you know what I discover! (I've been using them in place of anchovies for cesar salad!)
Nice to meet you, Sodium Girl! I need to make your pickled fennel since it sounds perfect for me.
