With Amanda off kicking it with Martha Stewart, Merrill is left to make CottageGourmet's cozy Cranberry-Molasses Pudding with Vanilla Hard Sauce on her own -- which is okay, since Merrill happens to be rather crazy for steamed pudding (chalk it up to her British-inflected upbringing). For more non-pie Thanksgiving dessert ideas, see the contest page here.
This week's videos were once again shot and edited by talented filmmaker Elena Parker.

Merrill, u look great in dangly earrings!!
A trick for measuring molasses: coat the measuring cup with a very very thin film of oil, then pour molasses into measuring cup and it'll come right out into the mixing bowl.
I want to know what is taped to your cabinet glass just to the left of your microwave, Merrill. I've been trying to figure it out, but can't quite see it well enough.

How awesome to see your kitchen this week (instead of Amanda's). While I love Amanda's kitchen, it's so good to see your space, too!

added about 1 year agoThanks! It's a little smaller and more cramped than Amanda's, but it works!
Merrill, I'm trying to guess what cookbooks are there in your blurry closet (in the background). I wager: The Larousse Gastronomqiue, Julia's "Mastering The Art," two Barefoot Contessas, Joan Nathan's "Jewish Cooking in America," King Arthur Flour cookbook, Joy of Cooking. How did I do? :) Adam

added about 1 year agoImpressive! The complete list: Larousse, Julia, JOC, 3 Barefoot Contessas, King Arthur, Harold McGee's On Food and Cooking, Fannie Farmer (hidden at the top), the original NYT Cookbook, Tate's Cookbook and The Ultimate Cocktail Book. Just a sampling of my faves, plus a few randoms.
Quick tip: when measuring super sticky stuff (i.e. honey, molasses, corn syrup, maple syrup) it really helps to give your measuring device with a little shot of non-stick cooking spray.
This recipe made me join, it's remarkable.
